Preferences

The Editor lets you personalize your workspace through a central Preferences dialog. You can change how the Editor looks and behaves, tune quality assurance and autocorrect, choose which items appear on the segment toolbars, set the machine translation engine per language pair, and customize keyboard shortcuts. All preferences are saved per user and remembered across sessions.

To open Preferences, click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the Editor, or press Ctrl+Alt+P (on Mac: Cmd+Alt+P). Select a tab on the left to configure that area:

• General: Appearance, navigation, and translation propagation.

• Shortcuts: View, customize, and reset keyboard shortcuts.

• QA: Automatic status updates, live spellcheck, and dictionaries.

• Autocorrect & autocomplete: Typing corrections and per-language text replacements.

• Platform: Account-wide QA behavior.

• Toolbars: Which actions and indicators appear on the segment toolbars.

• Machine translation: The MT engine used for each language pair.

General Settings

To open Preferences, click the gear icon in the top-right corner of the Editor, or press Ctrl+Alt+P (on Mac: Cmd+Alt+P). The General tab is selected by default.

Manual and Automatic Propagation

Propagation copies your translation to all repeated segments in the active document. Use this section to control when and how propagation happens.

Infinite Scroll

Choose how you browse through segments in the grid:

• Enable infinite scroll (toggle): When enabled, all segments in scope are loaded continuously as you scroll. The Editor displays the total count at the bottom of the grid, and the scrollbar adjusts to the total content size. This mode works with any scope and number of segments.

• Pagination (default): When infinite scroll is disabled, the Editor divides segments into pages. Use the controls at the bottom of the grid to navigate between pages and set the number of segments per page.

These two modes are mutually exclusive.

Modes

Use the theme toggle to switch between Light mode, Dark mode, or Match browser to automatically follow your browser's color scheme. Your selection takes effect immediately and is remembered for future sessions.

To restore all settings on this tab to their original values, click Reset to defaults.

Keyboard Shortcuts

Select the Shortcuts tab to view and manage all keyboard shortcuts available in the Editor. Shortcuts are organized by category and each one displays its current key combination.

Finding a Shortcut

Use the search bar at the top of the tab to locate a shortcut by its name or key combination. The list filters in real time as you type.

Editing a Shortcut

Follow these steps to change a keyboard shortcut:

1. Click on the key combination next to the shortcut you want to change. The field enters edit mode and the current value is selected.

2. Press the new key combination on your keyboard.

3. If the combination is valid, it is saved automatically. Click outside the field or press Enter to confirm.

The Editor validates your input and shows a warning if the combination is already assigned to another shortcut, is an invalid key combination, or is reserved by the system or browser. Press Esc to cancel the change and revert to the previous value.

Resetting Shortcuts

• To reset a single shortcut to its default value, click the reset icon next to it. This icon only appears for shortcuts you have customized.

• To restore all shortcuts to their defaults at once, click Reset to defaults.

Shortcut Categories

Shortcuts are organized into the following categories:

• General: Open panels and tools (Search, AI, Memory Finder, Term Finder, QA, Fields, Filters, Batch Actions, and more).

• Memory Finder: Trigger a memory search for the selected segment.

• Term Finder: Trigger a term search for the selected segment.

• Navigation: Move between segments, cells, empty segments, unconfirmed segments, and unlocked segments.

• Edit: Save, set status, copy source or markup, insert symbols, apply formatting, split/merge segments, set bookmarks, and propagate translations.

• File: Import and export.

• Interface: Toggle labels, segment toolbar, and whitespace visibility.

All default key combinations are visible in the Shortcuts tab. Some shortcuts are unassigned by default and can be configured to your preference.

Navigating panel result lists

Beyond the configurable shortcuts above, the sidebar panel result lists support standard keyboard navigation. In the Memory Finder, Term Finder, Comments, and Revisions panels:

These use standard keyboard behavior, so there is nothing to configure.

QA

The QA tab controls what happens to a segment's status after its quality assurance issues are cleared, and manages the live spellchecker and its dictionaries.

Automatic status updates

By default, resolving or ignoring a segment's QA issues does not change its translation status; you set the status yourself. Under Automatic status updates, choose how a segment's status should change once all its QA issues are resolved or ignored:

The update happens when you resolve or ignore a segment's last remaining issue, from either the QA panel or the QA column.

Spellchecker

Turn Live spellcheck on to check spelling as you type in the target cells.

Dictionaries

Under Dictionaries, turn spellchecking on or off for each language and choose the dictionary variant used for it (for example, Spanish (Spain) for Spanish). The source language is marked Source and its dictionary is fixed.

Autocorrect & Autocomplete

The Autocorrect & autocomplete tab fixes common typing mistakes as you work and lets you define replacements for each language.

Autocorrect as you type

Turn Enable autocorrect on to correct text automatically while you type.

Typing corrections

Turn Capitalize the first letter of sentences on to capitalize the first word of each sentence automatically.

Per-language settings

Use the Language selector to choose which language the settings below apply to. They apply to that language only, so switch the language to configure another locale.

Quote and punctuation replacement. Each of the following can be turned on and configured (click the pencil to set the replacement). They are Not set and off by default:

• Replace single quotes

• Replace double quotes

• Replace question marks

• Replace exclamation marks

Use Excluded punctuation to list punctuation marks that should never be replaced (up to 30 characters). Type a mark and press Enter to add it.

Text replacements. Define text that is replaced automatically as you type. The default replacements are:

Select + Add text to create your own replacement, or Restore defaults to return to the list above.

Platform

Turn Prevent skipping segments when running a QA on to make a QA check cover every segment instead of skipping any. Select Restore defaults to reset this tab.

Segment Toolbars

The segment toolbar sits next to each source and target cell in the grid, giving you one-click access to actions like locking, commenting, and AI assistance, along with indicators such as translation origin and QA issues. The Toolbars tab lets you decide which of these appear, so each side shows the tools your role uses most and hides the rest. Your choices are saved to your account and follow you across every job, project, and scope.

Opening the Toolbars tab

Follow these steps to customize your toolbars:

1. Open Preferences by clicking the gear icon in the top-right corner of the Editor, or press Ctrl+Alt+P (on Mac: Cmd+Alt+P).

2. Select the Toolbars tab.

The Segment toolbars section shows two lists side by side, Source and Target, mirroring the layout of the grid.

Turning items on and off

Each list shows every item available for that side with an on/off toggle on the right.

1. Toggle an item on to add it to the toolbar, or off to remove it.

2. Changes take effect immediately in the grid.

A few rules keep the toolbar usable:

• The source toolbar holds up to 4 items and the target toolbar up to 6 items. The character length indicator sits on its own second row and does not count toward these limits. When a list is full, the remaining off toggles are disabled until you turn something off.

• The source toolbar always keeps at least 2 items: when only two remain on, their toggles are disabled so the toolbar is never empty.

• Two target indicators are always shown and cannot be turned off: Last editor and the combined Repetition / Propagation indicator. These rows appear without a toggle.

Reordering items

Currently-enabled items show a drag handle on the left. Drag a row up or down to change the order the items appear in on the toolbar. Disabled items and the always-shown target indicators cannot be moved.

Restoring defaults

To return a column to its original items and order, click Restore defaults at the top-right of that column's header. The Source and Target columns are reset independently.

The Bookmark button cycles through three states each time you click it: no bookmark (gray), blue, and red. The tooltip shows the current state. Copy source to target overwrites any existing target content and is disabled when the segment is locked.

Machine Translation

The Machine translation tab lets you choose which machine translation engine is used for each language pair in the Editor.

For each Language pair shown, pick an MT engine from the dropdown (for example, Google - All for English to Spanish). Select Restore defaults to return to your account's default engines.
